Free Libre Open Source Software or FLOSS is considered an improvement by some, specifying the evocative French word "Libre" as a wider freedom than price. It is especially popular in Europe, in Canada, and preferred by Richard Stallman.

(The preferred acronym in UK government and public service from around 2000 is FOSS - Free or Open Source Software.)
