  • Aug 1994 – Sells commercial rights to SpyGlass (licensed for IE Explorer)

Netscape:

  • May 1994 – NCSA team & Jim Clark start first browser company
  • Dec 1994 – Mozilla 1.0 released, multi-platform
  • Free for non-commercial use, company focuses on web server

Mozilla:

  • Jan 1998 – Netscape source published on new Mozilla.org site
  • Includes email, newsgroups, IRC

Firefox:

  • Light-weight, stand-alone browser broken out from Mozilla
