"And so at last the beast fell and the unbelievers rejoiced. But all was not lost, for from the ash rose a great bird. The bird gazed down upon the unbelievers and cast fire and thunder upon them. For the beast had been reborn with its strength renewed, and the followers of Mammon cowered in horror."
- from The Book of Mozilla, 7:15, URL about:mozilla with Mosaic, Netscape, and Firefox web browsers.

Mozilla.org has among the deepest roots, and has had perhaps the largest roller coaster ride of all FOSS projects. Starting with the efforts to build the Mosaic web browser, the team and code moved from a Netscape phase to ownership by a large company AOL to transfer of some code and team to Mozilla, the mascot of the original Mosaic team.

Today Mosaic supports several projects, leading with their Firefox web browser and Thunderbird email client.
