OpenOffice is within a small number of years of becoming the default Office Productivity Suite (word processing, spreadsheet, drawing, presentations, small database) across the world. Starting with the great effort supported by Sun to create StarOffice, it has become supported by a foundation of many large and small contributers, and is increasingly preferred by governments in particular in order to maintain complete control of their document formats and applications. Able to read and write the currently dominant Microsoft formats, it is increasingly personal and business users first choice. All FOSS, licensed under the Lessor GPL License.
